Synopsis for Unknowing

The beginning: set-up/normality

It's June 15th 1985, Just outside of the Centre of London, a man and his girlfriend are on a date, driving along a quiet road in the middle of nowhere. It’s dark out, they are parked up in a nearby forest. Suddenly they are disturbed by strange noises in the bushes and in the distance. Which startles them, the man decides to go and investigate. A loud scream is heard by the man, he runs back to the car. After searching for her, she is found hanging on a tree, her lifeless body hangs there covered. The man screams and runs to his car, a black figure blocks the road, prevents him from leaving. when he manages to escape, he sees the figure again which causes him to lose control and crash into a nearby tree, he is unresponsive. The couple are displayed on the news the following morning both deceased, when the protagonist Aubrey is getting ready to leave for university. She watches the news report. And warns her friend heather about the tragedy. They drive to university, and meet up with Scott and Ryan where they discuss the recent events. It has been two years since her mother's death.

The middle: Confrontation/disruption

While trying to live her life and enjoy herself, the strange murders begin to double by the night, the towns community begin to act. Aubrey warns her family about the situation. They insist that she stays with them at home although she refuses, she begins experiencing disturbing calls from an unknown number, this person knows her name and who she associates with, she is then taunted by her sister’s disappearance. Where she begins having nightmares, she explains the situation to her friends and the police. Although her friends think she’s overreacting because of the trauma of her sister’s disappearance. The police start an investigation; in the meantime, her father provides her with a bodyguard. The killer then begins to slaughter the people around her, starting with the university principal and a student. And then her bodyguard, the killer leaves her a disturbing message. Aubrey begins to investigate. When she is left disturbing clues that the killer has left for her, she finds a trail of photos of her mother from when she was young. the killer calls again, and disguises as her crush Scott who asks her and the other to meet him at the house, she soon discovers it wasn't Scott and her and her friends are terrorized and trapped inside the abandoned house where Aubrey comes face to face with the killer.

The end: Resolution/restoration of normality

Aubrey uncovers the truth. The killer is unmasked as Aubrey’s half-brother Michael who she had never met, he admits to killing her mother two years prior, she also discovers that her mother had a relationship with another man and fell pregnant with Michael and then abandoned him before she was born, she seemed to have made his father’s life ‘hell’. He branded her as a slut who ruins people's lives. He tells her that he took Melissa because she is just another copy of her mother. Melissa is found alive by Aubrey, injured, in the bottom of the basement of this abandoned house which is around 10 miles away from where Aubrey lives. The police are called, and Jason is reunited with Melissa. Michael, who is severely injured is captured by the police and taken away. Aubrey's friends are taken to an ambulance, while Aubrey is taken home by her father with Melissa by her side. One month later, Michael's trial begins.
